It's been nearly one year since there was a significant VT meeting in this area..... think back to when the Baltimore/Washington area feared a Sniper that was on the loose.... that's when we got together the last time. We even sat outdoors in plain view!! (VTers are so brave.)

Well, it's time to try to get together again. Chris (cjg1) and Tania (skye820) will be heading south on the weekend of October 11th. Shall we all meet somewhere in the Baltimore area?? Sunday maybe? There's been some interest in a local VT meeting lately. It's about time again......

I'll put something together, whether I can actually make it or not. Give me your input.

Frank

Sounds cool to me. Even though I'm slightly closer to DC, B-more is so much easier to drive into. Keep me posted via e-mail so I don't forget! Suggestion -- Evite works great if you want to track who's coming.

Hey guys,

I've been getting e-mails from several people about this VT meeting.... so far it seems that Saturday the 11th is the best date for the most people. I'm thinking about something in the early afternoon, then we can walk around if the weather is nice.

Let me gather a list of who is interested so far. I'll also add this 'event' to the VT calender.

If it is possible, I will attend. Baltimore is quite a distance from here, and I really hesitate leaving my husband home alone for that long.

Hey Frank

If Chris makes it down, then count me in as well, as I'll probably hitch a ride with him.

As far as I know, most people can come meet at anytime Chris... maybe we can bump it back a little. I know Tania can make it later, and that would be a PLUS.

My entire night is open, so we can continue the day on Water Taxis exploring, and make it a night out as well. It's an entire VT day in my calender.

Hey Chris,

I've been a slacker this week, I'm still out of town.... but I'll be back Friday!

As far as a cheap hotel, this is where I'm the least help in Baltimore... cuz I never need a room here. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn - Cromwell Bridge before, and that was reasonable... can anyone else help??

Three days to Baltimore!

Unfortunately, we are going to be in Annapolis at the SSCA meeting associated with the sailboat show.
(Seven Seas Cruising Association).

It's a whole lot farther for me than it is for you DC folks - Baltimore is about 100 miles. Joan is it frowned upon to bring spouses? If I was coming, I'd bring Bob.

It's true Bill, I selected this place because it's so easy to find.....

Coming from the North, continue down I-95. When you get to the tolls for the Fort McHenry tunnel, make sure you get into the right lane of the right 'tube'. The exit will be right after you come out of the tunnel. At the light, turn RIGHT onto Key Highway.

From the South, continue up I-95. The exit will be the last one before entering the tunnel.... Past the I-395 and Hanover street exits.... when you get to the light, turn LEFT onto Key Highway.

From both sides the exit should be labeled as: FORT MC HENRY NATIONAL MONUMENT/ KEY HIGHWAY. It is exit #55.

Once on Key Highway, follow the curves...... go past the Museum of Industry, and look for Little Havanna sign on the right side.

Parking shouldn't be difficult, if you can parallel park! This is a safe area.

Any questions?

This will be my first VT meeting. Cool! I probably will not be able to do the water taxi and events afterwards though. My daughter is coming home from college for fall break this weekend so I am kind of playing this all by ear trying to figure out her scheudule also.

Hey, I just found this meeting on the events calendar--I am actually in the US and able to come! Is the time fixed at noon, or has it been moved to a bit later? If it is slightly later, that would be good for me. Please let me know.
