Anyone know where do you take the bus tha goes from La Paz to Oruro? And what days do the trains leave Oruro to Uyuni? I can't seem to find any info on this on the web. Thanks!

The bus is fairly straight forward. You simply go to the main bus terminal (a grand gold-colored building)near the central district of La Paz and buy a ticket for Oruro. I'm not up to date on current train schedules but in 2006, when I was there, the trains left for Uyuni Mondays and Fridays at 15:30 with Nuevo Expreso del Sur and Sundays and Wednesdays at 1900 with Wara Wara del Sur. Have fun. The Salar is amazing.

Tuesday and Friday:

Bus trans Copacabana: La Paz – Oruro, dep. 10:00, arrive 13:30

Tren Expresso del Sur: Oruro – Uyuni, dep. 15:30, arrive 22:00



Wednesdays and Sundays:

Any bus from La Paz to Oruro, departing every hour from Terminal, but on that day bus does not arrive at the train station, the recommendable option is to leave at 14:00, arriving at 17:30

Tren Wara – Wara: Oruro – Uyuni, dep. 19:00, arrive 02:00

The train would be far more preferable to the bus. When I made the journey in 2002, the road to Uyuni wasn't a road at all. Very uncomfortable, and the bus was falling to pieces (so was I when I got off!)
