Re: traveling from Cadiz to Seville and back Posted: Sun February 10, 2008 06:58 PM UTC
Getting to and from Cadiz to Seville in the time that you have is always going to be difficult. The distance between the two is about 125 kms and by car it would take at least one hour and a half allowing for traffic.
You can go either by bus or by train.
Both stations are withing easy walk of the port docking site.
The bus terminal is run by the local Cadiz province operator called COMES. They have a web site on which you may find some timetables: www.tgcomes.es
Alternatively you may go to the rail station and take a train - there are a few different types. the least expensive and one I recommend is called ANDALUSIA EXPRES which is a normal commuter type train but very comfortable. You can see times and costs on Spanish rail web site at www.renfe.es
If you choose to go by train then you don't need to get off at the last station in Seville namely Santa Justa, but get off at SAN BERNARDO station which is actually in a tunnel underground. This station is within about 20 minutes walk of the main sites in Seville.
If you think that the time taken on travel may not leave you sufficient time to do Seville justice, then consider exploring Cadiz itself and maybe taking a bus or train to Jerez which is where the famous sherry wines emanate.
