| Karlsruhe | Euromeet 2008: Please share your Hotel deals! Posted: Sun February 10, 2008 09:11 AM UTC
On our Euromeet2008 website (in the accommodation travelogue) we have already introduced a couple of hotels in Karlsruhe that might be interesting for those of you attending the Euromeet!
However, we are aware of the fact that the closer the meeting comes, the more deals will be offered on various hotel booking websites. So, please, be so kind and share your deals and hotel finds here on this thread - it will be highly appreciated by your fellow attendees! Thanks a lot in advance! The ABC Squad |

Any information/deal is welcome!
The problem with apartments is that oftentimes they only rent the apartment for a minimum of one week - but hey, if anybody could prove me wrong, I would be more than happy!!!

Hotel Residenz: (mentioned in EuroMeet 2008 accomodation travelogue)
Rates given with VirtualTourist discount to our ABC planning team were: sgl. room 90 EURO, dbl. room 125 EURO, breakfast included. After exploring their website a little, I discovered a nifty type of room they offer, perfect for an occasion such as a VT meeting where all you need is a bed and shower: They emailed me the following to confirm the details on their website: Dates 30.05.- 01.06.2008 (insgesamt 2 Naechte) small single room / Einzelzimmer (ca. 11qm) Price: € 50,00 EUROS per room per day (*Schlaf & weg* = Sleep-'n'-Go Kategorie) including breakfast buffet. This is a tiny single room WITH your own bathroom, but looks sufficiently clean, central and comfortable. WEBSITE SLEEP 'N' GO: http://www.hotel-residenz-karlsruhe.de//eng/schlaf.php

Just a hint: Hotel Residenz is situated next to the train station, thus very convenient for those who travel on public transport.

I can't take credit for this because it was actually Sandy Smith who pointed it out. On venere.com, you can get a double room at Hotel Berliner Hof on Europaplatz for EUR 73 per night (plus EUR 8 per person for breakfast -- sounds like we'll be looking for a bakery...;).

Hiya,
we booked Hotel "Acora Hotel & Wohnen" through www.hrs.de last weekend because we found a very good deal. We pay just 43,20 EUR for a double room excluding breakfast. It's HRS' early bird special, so I guess you have to book rather soon in order to get this deal. Normal prices on the hotel website are much higher. hrs.de is available in English as well. It is one of the hotels mentioned on the Euromeet site and looks rather ok on the website http://www.acora.de/en/content1.php?path=4&akt=0. So.... who will be our neighbours? Seeya! Sabs

Sabsi already mentioned the hotel reservation system www.hrs.com. I also highly recommend this website because in my opinion they usually offer great deals.
Furthermore on this website you'll find hotel ratings and a map where you can see the location of a hotel. Some people asked me if there are hotels within walking distance to the restaurants and meeting points. In my opinion its more important to have a good access to public transport because you'll need to use the tram anyway. Instead to single tram tickets I recommend to get the 'Karlsruhe WelcomeCard'. For more info about that have a look at the transportation travelogue on the Euromeet2008 website.

Sabsi.
I spent two months living in the Acora. The double rooms are quite large and the single are extremely small. But I like the location. It is about a block or two walk from Mulburger Tor and just a few from Europlatz. For the rest of you, the Renaissance Hotel on the other end of town is giving 75 euro rates for a double room. Just stayed in this hotel this weekend on the same rate and it was good enough for what it was. No breakfast on that rate though.

Great location, Jess. Congrats. In the heart of the city but in a street with hardly any traffic. Walking distance to Badisches Brauhaus, too. Do get that tram ticket they're offering.

Hi all,
I tried the online booking machine on the Karlsruhe.de website and found some pretty good rates there. I am a bit lost, however, since there are many hotels that show up there and ask for your input, fellows ;-) I am leaning towards Hotel Blankenburg. Looks very nice to me, only thing is I'll make sure to get a room to the back since there is a noisy street in front I guess. Single room is 75 Euro, directly through hotel probably a bit less. Another option is Markgräflerhof I think. Single room is 51 Euro and I absolutely *love* the ambience (Art Nouveau?). What do you think about location and have you heard about friendliness etc.? Another idea is Ringhotel Residenz, the "Schlaf und weg" single rooms (11 square meters) for 50 Euro per night. What do you think? All rates incl. breakfast buffet. Btw, I'll probably stay from Thursday, 29 May to Sunday, 1 June. Looking forward to meet y'all! Ingo

hi there, I've just signed up for the Euromeet 2008. I'll be looking for someone to share a room with in a medium priced hotel. If you think that's a good idea, please e-mail me. In honesty, I don't drink but I do smoke (only where it is allowed, of course!).

I've just booked one of the Rezidenz Sleep'n Go rooms as menioned by Jess earlier.
I've been trawling through the hotels sites all afternoon and given that this is a 4 star hotel and that it includes a substantial breakfast, I think it is very good value. Because I'm arriving and leaving by train, the location near the station is perfect. I thought the Alfa Hotel a( a few steps away from Ludwigplatz )also had good rates for singles and doubles but breakfast wasn't included. JessH's hotel, the Erbprinzenhof is also excellent value for money with a really central location. Finally, on Hotels.com, the Ambassador Hotel was offerred at EUR 80 for a double , including breafast. Pretty good value here also.
