Not sure what its like now but 10 yrs once you walked off the plane and through immigration there were alot of owners of accomodation waiting. I think the only style of accomodation is simple, from memory we paid around USD25/night in the place because they have a captive market. Dont remember the name of the place we stayed at.

Highly recommend staying in: Residencial Tahai.

This B&B has a setting in a tropical garden and is surrounded by flowers and palm trees. Lovely hosts.
All residencials on Ester Island do have more or less the same price.

Enjoy your stay

We're off to Easter Island tomorrow and are camping for a week at Minihoa (www.mihinoa.com). This is the best value place we could find, they also have cheap rooms in addition to camping.

Hi,
I recently was a guest at TAHAI Residencial. I do NOT agree with the person who recommended staying there. All of the other guests felt the same way as I do. (I chose it after reading a review on Viritual Tourist which highly recommended it>>>BIG MISTAKE!) Teresa, the owners's daughter, who basicly runs the place, is deceiptful, dishonest and negative...plus she is a scam artist. I posted a review, which you can read for further info.
I do suggest that you take a guided one day tour of the island with Patricio, who is Teresa's brother-in-law. Google Easter Island tours. Patricio is a gracious host and the best tour guide on the island.
Easter Island is magical!
Happy and safe travels.
