Jasper National Park What camera to bring?
Posted: Sun February 10, 2008 03:27 AM UTC
Sounds like I'll need a wide angle and zoom lens. If so my digital won't make the grade. I LOVE seeing my pic immediately. What do you recommend?

In July spending 3 nights in Banff with 5 leftover. Should I spend more nights in Lake Louise or Jasper?

Looking for somewhat mild but exciting white water rafting. Suggestions?

Check your digital camera. Many have "stitching" which means that you can take several shots in a row, and then when you put them on the computer, you can overlay them to get a wide angle shot. It works amazingly well with my Pentax Optio, and I've seen a Canon (I think) that does the same.

I would allow 5 days for Banff/Lake Louise area and 3 for Jasper, if it were my vacation.

There are numerous white water rafting companies based out of Banff and Canmore, AB as well as Radium Hot Springs and Golden, BC, both of which are about an hour's drive south and west of Lake Louise. Here are some suggestions:

Canadian Rockies Rafting Co www.rafting.ca
Hydra www.raftbanff.com
Canmore Rafting Centre www.canmoreraftingcentre.com
Kootenay River Runners www.raftingtherockies.com
Glacier Raft Co www.glacierraft.com
Alpine Rafting www.alpinerafting.com

Any of these companies should be able to offer you anything from float trips to Class 3 rapids. There are also rafting companies based out of Jasper, but I'm not familiar with any of them, so can't offer any names.

Thanks for your suggestions. My camera does have that feature but I've never used it. I'll practice with it here before I leave.
