- From the airport take a mini-bus (you can not miss the kiosk in the arrival hall) to Pajaritos Station. Takes about 10 minutes.
- From Pajaritos Station to VALPARAISO, buy a ticket and take one of the buses (we had Tur Bus / www.turbus.com); they leave very frequently. Bus ride takes about 75 minutes. - From the central bus station in Valparaiso take one of the many taxis to the cruise port. Can not tell the exact prise, but don't worry public transportation is rather cheap in Chile. happy travels Jaap

Ronduncan: The ticket Santiago - Valparaiso cost is about 6 american dollars, each 15 minutes departures from Pajaritos station. All "Pullman bus" buses have soft seats, air conditioner and a passanger assistent.

Taking the bus can be awkward if you have a lot of luggage. If you travel on LAN there is a bus to Viña del Mar from the terminal there it is a short taxi ride to the cruise port. Alternatively you could take a taxi, about US$100.

I just phoned the official taxi stand at the airport. US$122 to the cruise port. You stop at the booth before you exit customs and the driver will accompany you to the taxi.

Hi "ronduncan" - as a matter of fact we are also catching a cruise ship in April 2008. What ship ?? I have scouted the 'net for transportation to Valparaiso and it looks like the cheapest is minitaxi to Pajaritos -then a bus to Valparaiso and then a taxi to the terminal. We , unfortunately, arrive at midnight on the 10th/11th.....so we intend trying to catch some sleep at the airport hotel....
We are from South Africa -(Durban).

We are taking a cruise with the Star Princess up to Acapulco on the 11th. All the information everyone provided is great. We DO have a lot of luggage so will have to weigh our options (as well as our luggage ha ha). We're spending two nights in Santiago before the cruise so if anyone has info on airport to downtown and then downtown to Valparaiso, as well as what to do in Santiago for two days, we'd appreciate it. From the TWO CANADIANS

I too am taking the Star Princess from Valparaiso to Acapulco on April 11 2008. I'm from LA, there are 2 of us traveling. We are staying 2 nights at the Best Western Majestic in Santiago then to the ship. I have booked a rental car from Advantage - seems to be reasonable - about $120 USD after all is said and done. After reading some posts, I may rebook but think I would like a little sightseeing time along the way.

I found out the following: For the taxi at the airport to go downtown, there is an official taxi counter inside the airport before you exit the main doors to go outside. Look for the taxi company called Transbib. This is an official taxi company and it should cost you about 6,000 pesos about USD12 to get to Santiago. You can pay and they will give you a receipt/ticket for the taxi. Any other taxi driver will probably rip you off.To get to Valparaiso, you can take the TURBUS to Valpariso and then take a taxi, approximately 10 minutes to the pier. A private car/taxi will cost you about 175,000.00 pesos, about USD415. The TURBUS should cost about USD 15.00 per person. (There are Tur Bus information desks at the Santiago airport, both before and after you exit the luggage-claim area, where they can give you info about the bus schedules.)
