taxi fare from Intramuros to Makati should be around 200 php. Shopping... hmmm... brand names or generics? If for brand names, go for Rockwell or Shangrila mall or greenbelt 5. If for budget shopping, try tutuban, 168, greenhills, tiendesitas or market market. I like going to Tiendesitas in Ortigas because it's not so crowded, it's cheap and there good food choices around. The places where they have the cheapest items are in 168 and tutuban.

if you're in dusit try to ride a taxi beside the sm makati which is northbound and ask the cab driver how much it cost. i think besides from mall of asia its nice to go shop there in malls near dusit hotel which is sm makati, glorietta, parksquare, landmark and greenbelt as you dont need to hop in and off in a cab to shop..all you need is to walk as malls there like a chain... hope this will help you.. enjoy you're visit in phili,,,

Oh please don't try to ask the driver how much it would cost to go to a certain place. Chances are that they would give you a higher price. Of course not everyone is like that but we'd like to limit the chances of you getting into some nasty situation which you could have avoided in the first place. I would instead take one of those more reliable cabs which you can call to pick you up to bring you to wherever you wanna go. let them flag down the meter. You'd be asked to add a minimal fee but that's reasonable. An alternative to hailing a cab is to get one of those taxis at the hotel.
