I want to go to Ooty from Thiruvananthapuram, I want to fly to Thiruvananthapuram by 10th Feb 2008 (Sunday) and my flight will land by 17:40 pm. I want to catch an Express Bus to Ooty the same day. Can someone guide me through.......?

I have not travelled to Ooty, but I can share the following:

Since you will be arriving in the evening on Sunday, you need to be prepared for an overnight stay in the city. Your best bet would be to enlist the help of the hotel staff. I found them uniformly courteous and helpful.

If you are able to get a reservation for an overnight bus to Ooty, then , just FYI, the ride from the airport to the city will take you approximately 30 minutes by rickshaw / taxi and cost you INR 100/ (approx USD 2.50)

Take a train from T'vandrum to Coimbatore. From Coimbatore take a bus to ooty..Quick and shortest economical and comfortable way, i think.

Too late now I think......but for others wanting to do the same.

Nagarcoil is about 90kms from Trivandrum.

Train 6609 departs Nagarcoil daily at 20.30 and gets to Coimbatore at 07.30, the train has 3-tier air con and Sleeper Class (not air con)

Thanks all of you who contributed for my question, now I have made the trip and want to share the experience.

I have made the trip to Ooty on 11th Feb 2008. I bought ticket on Indian airline, so the flight arrived in Trivandrum at noon. After I reach Trivandrum,

I went to "No: 1 Air, Bus" and bought ticket for two seats (push back seat), each ticket cost IND 300 Rs for One-Way they had Bus at 21 & 22 hrs to Coimbatore. I took the bus on the someday and reach Coimbatore at 07 or 08 hrs.

When they stopped the bus at the last stop, from there I took bus going to Ooty which cost IND 60 Rs per person, the seats were push back seats. I reach Ooty within 02-03 hrs.

Sorry trying to understand the air / bus. did you get the bus from the airport?. did you wait until 21.00 for the bus?. please explain as i need to do this trip.
