i am taking a course in Accra this June and will only have a few days when its over to stay in the country before i have to head back to the States. What are some nearby towns to ACcra that i could travel to, and how long does it take to get to each of them? thanks!

You could visit Kakum which is about a one and half hour journey, you can go into the rainforest and do a canopy walk across it's rooftop... amazing.

Or you could drive about 1 hour to Cape Coast and have a walk around the castle, it is very inspirational.

There is also Abouri where the botanical gardens are, again about another houe or so away from Accra.

If you ask the locals whilst you are there they will give you advice on transport but it is easy enough to travel around.

I am so jealous... I love Ghana!

I should be going to Ghana later this year, and am interested in the responses you get.

Cape Coast, Kakum and Elmina are near eachother, so you can visit them all and it's not far from Accra.

If you have more time you could try Kumasi (about 5 hours from Accra), there is a nice lake near it that I didn't visit but people told me it's really nice.

Mole is always good, but the problem is to reach it.If you don't have your transport it's quite complicated and takes two days.

Wli falls are one of the best places in Ghana for me, and worth seeing. It's around 5h also to get there. It's close to Hohoe.

Also you have Lome, Togo near. It's interesting to see difference between former french and english colonies.

But best would be to get Brent guide for Ghana is really good and you can find places that you would find most interesting to see.

Cape coast, in Ghana, and Lomè in Togo! I travelled by pubblic buses and it took 4-5 hours to both of them.
