| Vigan | help with itinerary Posted: Fri February 8, 2008 05:27 PM UTC
Greetings mga kabayan!
I am planning my first northern Luzon trip and I really need your help! I only have 3-4 days to spare to see the following: our famous rice terraces, Vigan and Baguio. I will only take public transpo (preferably an A/C bus for long-distance trips). Thanks so much! |

Goodness! that's so much to cover in 3 to 4 days. You have to allot at least 24 hours to get to and fro Manila and between those places. If you intend to sleep between places, you have to allot at least another 24 hours.
anyway, I only know of Baguio among the 3 places you mentioned. I would think that this would be the best place to land from Manila because from there you can get a bus to the Rice Terraces. You will want to take off from Manila at night so that you will just sleep through the rest of the trip. Buses going to Baguio leave several times within 24 hours. I would suggest you see a few places: Tam-awan village, Bell church, Camp John Hay, PMA and the Balatoc Mines. Have your meal in one of the restos along session road. You'll have to spend the night in Baguio since the buses going to the Rice terraces leave early in the morning. Please visit my travel blog at www.janecajuguiran.blogspot.com for Baguio tips. Keep safe and enjoy your trip. Jane

hi! hope this reply is not too late. we just been there but we were not able to proceed to vigan, 4 days is not enough. If i were you, from manila go straight to banaue. Travel by night so u would be there early in the morning it took 8 hours trip. the lodge is cheap, php200 per head with a nice bathroom with heater. rent a car to hapao there are 3 view points and a hot spring, if you are travelling in groups dont hire a guide it would cost you a lot. just follow the trail to the hotspring, ask the locals if u get lost. people in hapao is very friendly and accomodating. going down to the hotspring would take a 45mins walk. A day in banaue is enough.
Next trip sagada... from banaue the earliest bus to leave for Bontoc is 8:30am, its a 2hrs ride. Then from Bontoc to Sagada is 1hr, have your lunch @ Alfredo's they have the best food (yummy!).visit eco valley, burial cave, and best of all sumaging cave. One day is not enough for me here, i love this place. Going down to Baguio... the bus leaves from 5am to 1pm it will take 6hrs trip, take a hotel in session road so it would be accessible to all places. visit botanical garden, from there go up to mines view. Next, bell church (chinese garden) then to La trinidad for the Strawberry fields. Burnham park is still good, and a view of the city in SM is cool. Enjoy the Trip! :)
