| Quebec | GOING TO QUEBEC Posted: Thu February 7, 2008 01:59 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,
I'm planning on going to Quebec mid-April or May which I understand it starts to warm up. Any advice or tips as far as how is the nightlife in the city, where to stay close to the fun, and looking for new friends to hang out with. Thanks in advance for your replies. |

Hi!
Yes, mid-April or May should be warmer and it's usually a good time to visit, although you can expect anything from gorgeous sunny days to rain to some snow. The two most popular nightclubs ("Dagobert" and "Maurice") in Quebec City are located on Grande-Allée, which is just a short walk away from the Old City so I'd recommend picking a place to stay in that area (feel free to e-mail me if you need help with location/directions). You might also want to look into staying at the youth hostel (http://www.cisq.org/defaultEn.aspx?p=62). It's a really nice hostel, the location is great, and you'd surely get to meet lots of fun people to hang out with. Hope this helps, let me know if you need more info! Isa

Hello,
Indeed, Dagobert and Maurice are popular night clubs, if a bit populated by a younger crowd (18-20). Remember that the drinking age here is 18. You can also try the Turf-Pub on Cartier Street, a street full of little pubs and restaurants, a mere 10-minute walk from Grande-Allée. Le Pub St-Alexandre on St-Jean Street is always busy and offer a wide selection of beer and whiskys, and has usually bilingual staff working the bar. Down by the Old Port, the pub Linnox is also worth a visit. You don't mention a budget so it is difficult to recommend a place although pretty much everything is walking distance. There are scores of nice B&B's and boutique hotels in the Old City so if you give me a price point I can give you some tips. Hopefully the spring will be warm but with Quebec City celebrating its 400th anniversary, you are sure to find lots of interesting activities. Have fun.

If you are trying to meet new friends you can also try www.couchsurfing.com. I am pretty sure there must be a group for Quebec City.
