My family and I am going to visit Alabnia this Summer.We are goin to rent a car in Montenegro and drive to Albania. Is there any places we need to see ?
And places where we can sleep over night. Not hotels. Is tere anybody who knows something ??

be very careful that your car insurance covers albania. many polices do not due to the high levels of crime within albania.

If it does, great , head for the coast - there area in and around Durres is an undiscovered gem.

There are lots of things to see but you don't give any idea how long you will have or whether you need to return to Montenegro, or what kind of things you are interested in. For example Butrint and Gjirokastra are great places to visit but a long, long drive from Montenegro.

As a previous poster said, double-check the details about taking a rented car into Albania.

Alan is right, it is difficult to give you good advices not knowing how long you will be in Albania.

As an example, here is our itinerary in May 2007 for a short visit, 5 days from the south (Greece) to the North (Montenegro). I do not feel it can be much shorter but we have seen most of the interesting places except Tirana and Korca. We skipped Tirana and left it for another travel but it is a must. It requires at least 2 days. We skipped also Korca and Ohrid lake as that would have meant at least two more days.

D1 : Igoumenitsa (Greece), Butrint (morning visit), Saranda (dinner, not really a visit), Blue Eye (visit), Gjirokastra (night)

D2 : Gjirokastra (visit), Saranda (no stop), the Albanian Riviera (an absolute must, though the road is narrow and sometimes in bad condition but very scenic), Dhermi (night)

D3 : Dhermi (short visit), Llogara pass, Vlora (visit to Appolonia, dinner), Fier (short visit), Berat (night)

D4 : Berat (visit), Durres (short visit, dinner), Kruja (night)

D5 : Kruja (visit), Lezha (short visit, dinner), Shkodra (no visit as we had visited in 2005), Podgorica (night).

We are going to stay about a week i in Albania...

In one week (back to Montenegro, I suppose ?), the general frame of your travel might be:
Skip Shkoder and drive directly to Tirana for 2 nights, then Berat (1 night), Gjirokastra (1 night),
Blue Eye, Butrint and Saranda (1 night).
Then drive to Llogara pass, Vlora and Durres. I suppose you will have to sleep somewhere on the way (1 night).
Last night somewhere on the way to Montenegro. May be Kruja or Shkodra (1 night).

May be you will have to skip Appolonia and have only a short visit for Fier and Durres.
You might visit Shkoder on the return journey if you have enough time.
