Cągliari Trip to Sardinia
Posted: Tue February 5, 2008 05:49 PM UTC
Hello, I am planning a trip to Sardinia and am strongly considering Cagliari. Can someone advise what the beaches are like in the beginning of June, and what type of choices I have? Also, I am considering staying at the T Hotel, and although it looks great, I want to make sure it is not too far out of the way of things. I don't mind a 10-20 minute trip everyday and I dont mind a bit of a walk as well, but want to make sure I am not upwards of an hour away. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The T Hotel is wonderful and new. I stayed there more than once since it opened maybe 4 years ago. Not in elevated position (at the base of the upper side of the town center) but definetely not close to the sea (maybe 3 kms from the port, but around 5 from the nearest beach)

There are buses around, but i never used them, because i had always a car (that I higly recommend)

The beach of Cagliari is the wonderful and long stripe of sand of Poetto (look google maps or earth: its on the ESE of the center). Reachable by bus (althoug maybe with a change from T-hotel). Now that i remember, taxies are not expensive in Cagliari, so to Poetto it may be a choice. You can find a lot of tiki bars and reastaurants, there.

But, if you have a car, DO NOT miss the beacheas around VillaSimius (eatsward) and Chia (westward) with its high sandy dunes...

Enjoy!
Francesco

The Poetto used to be well known for it's lovely powdery, flour like white sand. Sadly a lot of that sand was replaced by dredged coarse grain quartz sand. Too bad. Still it's a nice place to hang out...and the other spots like Villasimius, Pula, are great...
