Perth Accommodation advice - hotels and/or apartments
Posted: Tue February 5, 2008 12:43 PM UTC
Hi all

My brother, his girlfriend and I will be in Perth late April for 6 nights. I have been recommended to stay anywhere in the city, South Perth or Como but that's the extent of the recommendations!

Considering that there are 3 of us, I'm thinking it might be cheaper to book a self-serviced apartment (must have a car space). Can anybody confirm this please and also recommend any? Alternatively, can anyone recommend any nice, cheap hotels/motels?

Thanks!

We stayed a couple of nights in canning Bridge Auto Lodge, just between Perth and Fremantle; perfectly located for visiting both by public transportation. It has car space (and a swimming pool). It is surrounded by restaurants, take-away’s, supermarket, post office and other shops.

happy travels

Canning Bridge is a good option....I live not far from there and its VERY convenient to Freo and Perth...its also a 15min walk from the new Canning Bridge train station to Perth.

Quest Apartment always have great locations, Redcliffe, Subiaco, South Perth, Fremantle and they have car bays.

All along Great Eastern why are the motels, Comfort Inn Etc

In East Perth you've got the Saville and City Stay apartments

Mounts Bay Road (below Kings Park) you have the Waldorf and Mounts Bay apartments.

Theres HEAPS to choose from.

I second Mounts Bay Appartments -

My family stayed there when they were passing through from England and were very happy with the place. It's within walking distance from the city centre and the river front and you can also catch a bus from the front door.

Cheers, Ann :o)

Sorry, I should have specified that I am after budget accommodation. Mounts Bay looks lovely but at over $200 a night it's not exactly cheap!

Ok, here's a couple of other suggestions -
Cabin accommodation at Karrinyup Waters Resort. Karrinyup is a short trip from Perth by train to Sterling Station & then bus. Here's the site -

I just had a look at holiday house accommodation and came up with this one -
http://www.ozstays.com.au/accommodation/hillarys__perth_accommodation/18958_hillarys__perth_accommodation.html
In fact this one is even cheaper -
http://www.ozstays.com.au/accommodation/city_beach_accommodation/12267_city_beach_accommodation.html

Have a look at a few on this site - they look good.

Cheers, Ann :o)

Also, April is the time for school holidays in Australia. Keep in mind that the 27th April is the end of all school holidays.

Thanks very much for your help :o) I've since booked a place in South Perth with a company that offers both apartments and car hire. I thought that was really helpful - if they're any good I'll definitely be putting a review up on VT!

Great! South Perth is close to everything....and if you got budget accommodation there, then that is a good thing!! :o) Well if you feel like meeting up with some locals while you are here, then don't forget to flick me an email a couple of weeks in advance and I'll see what I can arrange.
Have fun in Perth!!
Cheers, Ann :o)
