| Palma de Mallorca | All Saint's Day November 1 Posted: Tue February 5, 2008 11:25 AM UTC
Our cruise ship will be docking in Palma for one day and unfortunately it is November 1st. Are all shops, businesses closed? Are cafes closed as well? Any suggestions on how to spend the day?
Thanks Marty |

The majority of shops and businesses are likely to be closed, and some restaurants, but as so many people will be at leisure that day most usually open.
Taxis may be more expensive and public transport services limited. The Cathedral in the old town will of course be open for sevices and in between. It is well worth a visit. The area around the Carhedral is very attractive and interesting to explore - the old narrow streets, the gardens above the harbour and the harbour itself. I have sometimes found museums and galleries open on public holidays but have not been there on All Saints Day... Here is a list of all museums in Mallorca. I am sure you will find plenty to make your day in Palma enjoyable. http://www.mca-hotels.com/holidays-guide-mallorca/

Hi. Unfortunately (employee's point of view) some big malls will open their doors like "El Corte Inglés." (Jaime III street). The major part of the "small commerce" will remain closed.
There is one "El Corte Inglés" near the Cathedral. I suggest you walk the old city: Cathedral, Almudaina, ···· like ranger49 says. Take Nº1 bus (Bus stop in front on the docks) tell the driver you want to stop at "Paseo Mallorca - Jaime III". Follow the ´.jpg I have just sent to your e-mail adreess. You can walk the green line without stops in one hour and the bus "walk" is about 20 minutes. P.D.: The coffee bars and restaurants will be open too. Salute

Hi...if U're into shopping spree then it will be a bad day as for sure many shops will be closed. Only big ones like Corte Ingles and alike could be open. Bars, restorants and other small places to have a coffe should be open all day long. Always remember that in Spain is typical to close at 2pm and open again at 4pm or even 5pm so be aware and plan your day ahead...check out my Mallorca travel page for more tips...good luck!
