Nassau Out of the Way Beach
Posted: Mon February 4, 2008 10:01 PM UTC
I am taking my first cruise and will be in Nassau for 1 day. I really want to go to a beach that isn't a parking lot of people. I have done a lot of research and have been suggested Love beach but I can not find it on the map. Also I looked through satalite photos of the island and saw what looks like a out of the way beach at Clifton Point. Any information on these beaches or any other ideas? Thanks alot.

Love Beach is slightly west of Cable beach, which is the main tourist beach it sounds like. A group of us are going to Bahamas next week and are staying right on Love beach. It is supposed to be restricted to locals only but reviews have said as long as you are respectful of the beach the locals dont mind if you use it. It is said to be a prime spot for snorkeling so if you do make it bring some gear! If you go to this site http://www.bahamatravelnet.com/maps/nassau.html the orange hill beach is the approximately the same area.

I am asking the same question. I haven't been able to find out much about the beach other than a few lines here and there. It all sounds good though. I'll be on my first cruise in March as well. It sounds like you can just catch the "#10 Jitney" for a few bucks all the way there. They should run in both directions about every fifteen minutes or so.

Here is a map I found

If this isn't too late, try to take an excursion to Black Beard's Island. You won't be the only one there but there will be fewer people than in other locales.

The beach frequented by most cruise passengers is the public beach to the right of Atlantis. However, most of the people congregate right by the entrance to this free public beach. If you don't mind walking to the right along the beach for about 10 minutes, you will have the whole beach to yourself. There are always taxis at this beach to take you back to the ship, or you can try your luck at the Atlantis next door and take the taxi back to the ship from there.
