looking to spend a few hours in aswan looking to tour the high dam, unfinished obelisk and philae temple getting in about 11am , does anyone know any good tour guides.

First time in Aswan??? Yes, you should see this "high lights". Personally I think only Philea Temple is worth your while. My left over time I would spend at the Nubean Museum and having a drink at the Old Cateract Hotel terrace. Or having a felluca sail on the Nile around and to Elephantine Island.

Things you can do on your own by taxi.

How much time do you have to spend in Aswan??

The most important is to get a fluent English speaking,knowledgeable tour guide. Unfortunately, locals are not ALL so good. So, here's a highly recommended Egyptologist living in Aswan with excellent reviews. You can contact him directly and I hope he would be available during your plan dates.
