Transportation to Dover Castle from Cruise Ship

We will be on a cruise ship, visiting Dover for one day -- a Friday in April. We would like to see Dover Castle on our own that day; the cruise ship does not offer its own excursion/transportation. We are in our early 40s and generally good health for walking. Question: how far of a walk would it be from the cruise ship to the castle? What other transportation methods are available to get from the cruise ship to Dover Castle? I'm also looking for street maps of Dover, including the castle and nearby town, to find our way around and not get lost getting back from the castle to the ship.

Leave the Cruise Terminal, Turn R. and join main road. Take tne next R turn to join the small road that runs close to the sea - the Promenade. Keep walking round the Bay it is not too far and quite flat until you cross over at the far side of the Bay and start to walk uphill towards the Castle.
