How long is a piece of string???

It depends on whether you intend to:

travel solo or with a partner

stay in "international standard" hotels or somewhere less pretentious

eat local or in "tourist" restaurants

party and/or drink a lot of alcohol

go on organised tours or "do your own thing"

Basically you probably spend according to your budget, as much or as little as you can afford. Whichever way you decide to budget, I am sure you are going to have a great time, Sabah is magic!!!!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I really appreciated the heads up. Sorry for the open ended question. I`d planned on rafting once maybe twice, wanting to see the rainforest and/or any other interesting sites and then stay in the city for a couple of days. I`m doing the hostel thing in KK. Just wanted a rough idea of spending based on trying to have a good time (solo) without trying to live like a king, but comfortably. Like, for instance average cost for food and drinks at local restaurants...Sorry if it`s still a little vague, but I`ve never been to Borneo and have no idea of what to expect. Thanks again

Hi there, well roughly you can check this website to get an idea of how much you will spend on accommodation/activities. Although there are others that may be cheaper or more expensive. On foods and drinks, if you're eating in local shop, you may spent around RM5-10 (around USD3) at a time. On transportation, taxi in sabah usually don't use meter so you need to ask before riding it. Bus going around KK will cost you less than USD1/2 per trip and based on your destination. Well hope that helps, quite hard suggest on how much to spend average each day though.
