Granada Taking a bus in Granada
Posted: Sat February 2, 2008 12:47 PM UTC
Hello,
We are looking to rent an apartment for a week in Granada in October while I attend meetings at the Palacio des Exposiciones y Congresos. There's an interesting vacation apartment in the Albaycin barrio, but it looks as if I'd have to take a bus to the Palacio each day if we stayed there. If we do this, what would be my travel time each way? Is this practical for someone who doesn't know the city very well? How frequently do buses come, and what is the system for buying tickets? Any other information will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

The web site of the bus company:
http://www.transportesrober.com/

I can find the fares there, but nothing on where to buy the tickets.

Hi!

I have lived 4½ years in Albaicin Bajo, and I think - depending on where in the Albaicin you would be staying - that you would be able to walk to the Palacio de Congresos in about 30 minutes.
If taking the bus, it also depends where in the Albaicin you stay... There are a few minibuses going round the Albaicin, it is about 1 Euro, but it might take you about 20-30 mintues (depending) to get to the main street (Gran Via) where you would have to change buses, and yet again pay 1 Euro!
There are "bonobuses" which are for instans 10 trips, and they are normally a bit cheaper!
I do believe though that if you are not disabled or anything - and you walk with a regular speed (!!!) that it would be more easy just to walk.

Have fun in Granada - it is a wonderful city!

Buses are frequent from Gran Via to the Palacio. If you get a top up travel card, ( buy it on the bus) you can end up paying as little as 50 centimos each journey. You also get a free Burger from Burger King !! This card also works for the Albaicin bus but most locals walk down into town, as its downhill all the way. It takes me 5 minutes to Gran Via. Coming back you can even transfer onto the Albaicin bus and not have to pay again if you do it within a time limit ( 15 mins I think). Getting a bus up the Albaicin is a good idea after a long day, walking uphill in the heat is draining. Hope this helps.
