I don't think you will have any trouble with ID in Cyprus but suggest that you bring photocopies of your passport (to avoid taking out the original and incase you get into any strife with the police) and your UK driving licence (Photo one had DoB and visual ID).
Hope that helps a bit. Enjoy the holiday :o)

Lads,In Cyprus Identity should be carried at all times, Photo driving license
or passport, Many clubs and Bars are are strict about I.D. if you look young. Enjoy!

Carrying some form of ID is sound advice wherever you travel and countries like Turkey, Cyprus etc say that this should be done at all times but assuming the lads are not too drunk to mind their manners or are not behaving in the traditional English lad on holiday way, they really shouldn't have any bother. My fella is UK forces and has spent quite a while in Cyprus with no request for ID when clubbing at all. I wouldn't recommend taking original passport out clubbing in case it goes missing. A photo ID and copies should suffice since the hotel you stay at takes copies of passport details and reports them to local police as soon as you arrive.
