Manila Budget Accommodation Help needed in Manila
Posted: Thu January 31, 2008 10:16 AM UTC
I am going to Manila and Borocay for the first time next week without any accommodations booked as I have no credit cards. After googling, I don't find any phone numbers from any budget hostels or guesthouses. I hope some of you can provide me with some phone numbers of budget accomodations in Manila & Borocay, preferably with dorm so that I can call up to make reservations.

Thank you so much !!

How much do you want to pay? I usually stay in the Ermita area of Manila. Mabini Pension at 1337 A. Mabini Street has some rooms around the 700 peso range without air and shared toilet/shower. Their telephone number is 523-3930/524-5404. No email address on my card.

Also on Mabini is the Stone House B&B. They have fan only rooms around 600 pesos. Their address is 1529 A. Mabini. There are two Stone House B&B's . Here is an email address:

stonehouse_apt@yahoo.com

I used the air conditioned room with hot water, TV, private toilet for 1000 peso. Internet shop next door.

Ermita has other discount hotels that you may luck on to by just walking about and asking some of the expats in that area for advice. Many cheap places don't have web pages or even email addresses. Another hotel that comes to mind is the Tropical Mansion on 1242 J. Bocobo Street Ermita.

Friendly's Guest House shows up on this forum every now and then. Link:

Map of Ermita: http://www.hoteltravel.com/philippines/manila/ermita_map.htm

Google up "Hostels in Manila" and you will get some hits. From the Ermita area you can easily walk to the MRT, Robinson Mall, restaurants, casinos, shops, travel agencies and several bars. Without knowing how much you want to spend per night kind of limits the recommendations you can get.

Good luck, Hal
