I'm hoping to travel to the Açores in September this year. Does anyone know of companies that organize guided day hikes? Sao Miguel, Sao Jorge, Terceira, Pico most wanted! All tips welcome, thank you!

You don't need a guide. All the trails are well marked. You need one only if you want to climb the Volcano of Pico.
You'll find trekking guide books by Amazon.com. It'also easy to rent a taxi. Ask the driver to drive you at the beginning of your trek and tell him where you want him to fetch you back. He will know the duration of the walk. Claude
