Mauritius Self catering accommodation
Posted: Thu January 31, 2008 07:55 AM UTC
We are planning to go to Mauritius in September 2008 and are looking for self catering accommodation which is right on the beach (i.e. no traffic between buildings and beach front). We enjoy watersports (waterski, snorkel) - any recommendations? We have been offered accommodation at Villa Mont Choicy - can anybody recommend it? We have been to Mauritius before and stayed at La Pirogue which we enjoyed very much as all sports and meals are included. This time we would like to try self catering and hope that we will not be disapppointed!

Hello, have you checked the location of Villa Mont Choisy - I don't think it is on the beach - close but not right on the beach.

I live in Mauritius and can recommend some self catering places in Trou aux Biches (next area past Mont Choisy) they are right on the beach, perfect for swimming and some snorkeling, there is also skiing near by and across the road from a good little supermarket for all your self catering needs. There is a bus stop practically at your doorstep. You will also find local fisherman will come by to sell freshly caught fish and other seafood. Also local restaurants within walking distance for inexpensive meals when you don't feel like cooking.

Both are spotlessly clean but basic holiday style - very nice but not hotel style and not fancy - depends what you are looking for but the location is perfect and they are excellent value for money.

One is about 30 to 40 Euro a night it has two bedrooms, kitchen and living area and balcony and includes daily maid service - send an email to Christian Sullivan (tell him you got his email address from Judy Wakefield) navillus@intnet.mu - he can give you further details and photos. There are 4 apartments in the block 2 at the front and 2 at the back, right on the beach but the two at the back don't have as good a view as the front ones.

There are some other similar ones in the same area - maybe a bit more upmarket and a little more expensive - send an email to reservation@islandresidences.com and ask them about beach front holiday apartments at Trou aux Biches.

Enjoy your holiday in Delicious Mauritius

I stayed at this place which has a swimming pool and is right on the beach. Its a nice european style, very clean and lovely place. Very friendly people too. It might be what your looking for and varies on cost depending on season. This is my second post about this place, cos its not too expensive as its family busness. They really sorted everything out and left me to enjoy it all, he even bought me a beer :)

here is the link and his contact info. hope this is what you are looking for.
