| Bhutan | How to plan a 8-10 day trip to Bhutan (Indian national) Posted: Wed January 30, 2008 04:12 PM UTC
Hello,
Hope this is the right place to be asking this. A couple of us are trying to plan a trip to Bhutan, of approx. 8-10 days duration, but aren't sure what the best way of going about this is. After some serious net-research, we've narrowed down on a rough circular itinerary covering western and central Bhutan (paro, thimpu, punakha, wangdiphodrong, phobjika, gangtey, trongsa, and bumthang). Here are my concerns, hope someone can help us out. 1. Is it too late to plan for an early May 2008 trip? Everything I've come across online seems to say early reservations are a must. 2. I'd be traveling from Kolkata. Fly to Paro or drive in? 3. What is the best way to reserve accommodations and make travel arrangements? Do I contact Indian travel agents or ones in Bhutan? Does anyone have any reccommendations (hope its okay to ask this here)? 4. How much would the approx. budget per person per day be? Both of us are Indian nationals. Any other information/suggestions which would be helpful is most welcome. thanks Paromita |

When people say you have to book well in advance, it is usually because the flights to Paro book up early. So if you find the flights full, you could still drive to Bhutan. Since you are Indian nationals, I believe there is not the requirement of a guide that other have, which can also be a limiting factor, if all the guides are booked at that time.
