| Georgia | Things to do with the grandchildren Posted: Wed January 30, 2008 02:49 PM UTC
Hi I am in Atlanta for Spring break My husband and I have to babysit our two grandkids aged 7 and 8.whilst their parents go on holiday. We would like to know of anything that may interest them around Atlanta. We don't mind taking them away for a few days either in a R.V. or motel if there is an area that they may like.I know they have done Atlanta to death. Much obliged for any help you can give

We have grandchildren who live in South Georgia, about 150-200 miles south of Atlanta, Some suggestions to take kids to places outside Atlanta. Go to Plains, Ga. where President Jimmy Carter home is/was. Go to Valdosta, Ga, where there is a great amusement park, called Wild Adventures. Go to Albany, Ga. to the Riverquarium, (not as big as Atlanta Aquarium) but based on fish from Flint river. Go fisihing or camping at state parks in South Georgia. Go north about 100 miles to Helen Ga, (a town with a German theme) Go north to highest mountain in Georgia, (good climbing on path, wear those kids out so they sleep well). Good luck

7-8 year olds in Atlanta? There is a new World of Coke right next to the Aquarium. I've not been to the new world of Coke yet, but it's like 2-3 times the size of the old one. The Fernbank museum supposedly has some kid friendly activities, but again, I've not been there, so I can't vouch for them personally.
Helen could be a good place to go as well. Six Flags, of course, is always a favorite as well. :-)

definitely take them to the Aquarium. The world of Coke maybe if you want them hopped up on sugar and caffeine...

Caffeine and sugar, the best thing to feed children! (just before you give them back to their parents....)
