Re: how to get from langkawai to perhentian Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 12:29 PM UTC
Hi Emily
Those islands mentioned are far apart except for Perhentian & Redang. Langkawi is on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia while the later two are on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Assuming that you are from Langkawi, there is a budget airlines - Firefly - that enroute to Penang. The same airlines has flights from Penang to Kota Bharu in Kelantan. No other airlines yet that travel from the west coast direct to the east cost except for this. The only thing you need to deal with is the unpredictable delays & cancellation. You may visit its website www.fireflyz.com.my for booking.
From Kota Bharu airport you need to take a taxi down to Kuala Besut jetty for the boat ride to the island. The speed boat tickets are sold at the airport. You can check these details on some Pulau Perhentian pages here on VT.
Due to the different jetties for speed boat ride to Perhentian and Redang, I think that there is no boat operates directly from Perhentian to Redang except on chartered basis. Boat to Redang is from Merang jetty. It is about 1 hour trip by taxi from Kuala Besut jetty to Merang jetty.
Honestly, with only 2 weeks, I dont think you can manage all the 3 islands in this one trip. You have to figure out which is the best to go about due to distance of each places.
