hi to everybody!!

after having been persuaded 100 % (from you!) about visiting the country on a tour and not intependently, could you tell me your opinion about booking the tour while in ulan bataar and not from home?

i hope it would be better in terms of prices, choise and to see who you are dealing with, before making the agreement.
i'm afraid it might cause delays... but it would be ok if we could set of for mainland after 2-3 days in the capital.

any experiences?

I booked it while in UB. And i did enjoy it because that way i could talk everything over. And i got myself some travel companions. But that is what i wanted. I didn't look around much since the hostel where i was staying offered great service (and great tours i found out, i did 2 with them. Both made the way we wanted it).

in fact we are going there in july/august - high season- and this may make things more difficult?
if you could mention the place you stayed and booked tours it would be a good help. how much was it, really?

i wnet there in october 2005 so it has been a while. And i couldn't for the life of me mention the guesthouse (though i could find it if i was in UB), i've visited too many places after that. I got the address from a friend since we were meeting up there. I do remember that it was a very popular place so i guess it'll be mentioned in the guide books. I'm sorry i can't help you further
