It is possible to contact Sorga cottages on their web site and Kedin's 2 via the Lonely planet web site. Sorga is just round the corner from the New Arena I have stayed there a few times and it has a range of rooms from budget to those with a/c. Prices include a good breakfast and staff are very nice. They also do free pick up from the airport. I have no problems about booking there again but felt like a change. You could always book that and change if you preferred the New Arena. Kedins 2 is just past Sorga and although I have not stayed there I did have a look at a room and it was good value budget accommodation. I don't remember if price includes breakfast and I do not know if they do airport pick-up. All of places mentioned have a pool. Are you familiar with the area? When are you planning to go?

I will be there in February so if I can get an e-mail for the New Arena I will post it on the site. You are sure to enjoy your time in Bali it is a marvellous place if you just go with the flow. Kuta is of course very touristy but it is easy to leave that behind and explore the rest of what is a relatively small island. You might be surprised that it is also quite nice to return to Kuta as everything that a traveller would want is there. I recommend Lovina if you want somewhere quieter and if you need a hotel there I can suggest one, I also love Amed for snorkelling and it is not yet developed although popular with divers. It depends what you like. We are heading to the East coast of Malaysia after Bali maybe you can give me some ideas for that part of the world??? I have been to Penang and KL before.

If you are heading for the east coast of Malaysia, Kuantan and k. Terengganu should be the place. Its not like Bali, but the places between Kuantan and K.Terengganu is very quite and there are many beautiful beaches too. There are alos sone interesting island on the east coast, namely P.Tioman in Pahang and P.Redang, P.Kapas in Trengganu. If you want to see a diffrent town from KL and Penang perhaps Kota Baru to the north of K.Terenggnu is also interesting. You can rent a car from KL - the road is mostly dual carriage way, very easy to go from one place to another. But if you want to rent a car make sure you get a detail road map (normally the car rental provide it) - dont depend on the road sign.

I visited New Arena while in Bali and according to their card the address is hotelarena_in_kuta @yahoo.com which you will see is the address I already tried however I did call in while there and I reckon you will be best just arriving and bargaining the price. I could have had a double room with AC and hot water for 180,000rps which is pretty good. Similiarly I booked another hotel via the internet and I reckon I would have had a better price by bargaining on arrival. This was my 3rd trip to Bali and it is the only time I have booked anything in advance. I also booked what I hoped would be a bit of luxury (going by the price) in Sanur for the end of trip and quite honestly it was no better than hotels for half the price. I had payed in advance so stuck with it.
Enjoy your stay. I had a wonderful time for a month and then on to one of the Perhentian Islands ....bliss. The web site is www.newarenahotel.com
