I have the choice of making a stop at Doha, but the only reason I would do this is if i can find a good deal on a DSLR camera.

In the past Ive never been impressed with Duty Free prices, especially at places and have found that I can actually get prices on the high street cheaper - with a bit of haggling.

Does anybody have experience of buying a electrical items here - did you make a BIG saving?

No, you are not going to save money in an airport shop in Doha. Everything in this country is wildly expensive.

Yes, you can generally get things cheaper on the street in just about any country if you shop around. Dubai is particularly fruitful in this regard, as are some of the Far Eastern cities. Duty-free shops in Gulf Arab countries are shams, of course, as there is generally no tax or duty of any kind attached to any imports at all...

But forget Qatar. The only thing you can get cheap here is petrol.

Compare with Dyubai is not top, but if compared with european duty free it is excellent. I am a resident in Doha and found duty free for top quality item better than in city.
