| Panamá City | must see places or city and things to do Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 03:13 PM UTC
I am planning to get to panama city by the middle of December from London before heading off to Colombia for the new year. Can you anyone shed some light in all the happenings in the city especially panama city. Being a civil engineer I will definitely be going to the canal to watch some of the most amazing sluice gate. I am also hoping to get some well earned rest, can someone please suggest a nice place within panama where a single male in his late twenty can relax without the hassle of being solicited in every street corner.
Many thanks |

a great place to totally get away from it all is Isla Taboga, a short (45min-1hr) ferry ride from P. City. There is a hotel that has a restaurant in it, which at the time I was there last summer was the only hotel on the island. I can't think of the name of it, but it's listed in the Panama Lonely Planet guide. The island is a beautiful place to get away for a few days, two beaches with clear water, Panama city rising on the horizon. Pretty great place. However, I never found myself hassled at all in Panama city, although some cab drivers tried to overcharge me a few times. Just settle on a price in advance. Any cab will take you to the Miraflores locks, where you can see the canal.
