| Mumbai | over night train to Delhi Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 10:02 AM UTC
If somebody would be kind enough to post some advice.
I am interested in knowing if advisable for a first time visitor to India to take the overnight express ( Rajdhani Express ) to Delhi . Is it slow and annoying or a pleasant experience ? Is first class Air Con comfortable to sleep ? WE are three , two adults one child . Lastly , what middle range hotel would you recommend for one night in Mumbai , arriving kind of late (10 pm ) at the international airport ? Thanks for your time ! |

Rajdhani is a pleasant experience. i went on that many years ago and it is an overnight journey. ac/2 tier would be ok. why dont you fly, rates are quite reasonable nowadayus.

It's not the money, Overnight train trips are a rarity where we come from (USA).
I would like the family to experience one! Thanks, for your answer

Rajdhani Express is the best train in India and First Class AC will be comfortable and convenient.
For a magical experience you can splurge on the Palace On Wheels. There is nothing quite like it, but really very expensive.

yes, go ahead take the Rajdhani journey.
i assume you are asking for a hotel near the airport - around half a dozen premium hotels as soon as ur cab starts moving out of the airport precincts. (& i m assuming it will probably take a left ie the western part of the city) in 5 minutes or so you will reach the western express highway, if you take right, there are hotels like Tunga, Bawa International, Avon & the huge Allianz Arena-shaped Sahara centaur (you are now actually at a stones throw from the domestic terminal)....hey i dont know which of these are good or bad. just throwing you names hoping it will help. Sam.

Pleasant! Air Con in India seems to have 2 modes: off or freezing. Being prepared, had piece of cardboard & Scotch tape in backpack. It controlled blast of freezing air. By leaving 1 corner untaped you can get lesser amount of air & redirect flow if blowing right on you. Easily removed before departing. Cabins have button to press if you need assistance with anything. Doors have lock. Suggest shopping for travel toilet paper. Will come in handy on train. Also, take some snacks & bottled water.
