| Pisac | Pisac to Ollantaytambo Posted: Sun January 27, 2008 02:46 AM UTC
I am spending the first two days of my trip in the Sacred Valley. Can anyone tell me how far a ride it is from Pisac to Ollantaytambo?
Is it easier to spend both nights in Ollantaytambo to check out the Sacred Vallet or should I heard from the airport in Cusco to Pisac to stay for one night and then take a bus/cab early in the morning to Ollantaytambo? |

you can do a day trip to the sacred valley and see it all and end up in ollantaytambo the same day and stay there so you wouldn't necessarily need 2 nights.

Neither Pisac nor Ollantataybo are very large, and they're less than an hour apart, if I remember correctly. We did a tour of the whole Sacred Valley in one day, in a hired car, starting and ending in Cusco--going through Sacsayhuaman, Puca Pucara, Pisac (ruins and the town's market), Urubamba, Ollanta, and Chinchero. This was a bit of a rush, but not bad at all, and we felt like we saw quite a bit. Things are close together.

Ollantaytambo and Urubamba are excellent bases for touring the valley. I stayed three nights. This made it possible to make a one-day tour to Pisac ruins and market and an alpaca farm and then another one-day tour to Ollantaytambo, Salinas and Moray. I wouldn't change a thing. I must be said I take a lot of photos and like to see the sights properly thus not recommending the rushed tour suggestions some others are giving.

I stayed in cusco and made it my base. It worked out better that way.
