| Dordrecht | P+R in Dordrecht Posted: Sat January 26, 2008 08:00 PM UTC
I'm taking a train from Dordrecht and will park at P+R Markettenweg. How long does it take to get to the station on foot? The map does not show an obvious route because the station and P+R have the rails separating them! Maybe there's a pedestrian tunnel?
Thanks! |

Dear AT,
I.s.o. using your beloved www.viamichelin.com I recommend you using the less favorite www.ns.nl website. At NEDERLAND = REISINFORMATIE - STATIONSINFORMATIE - PER STATION - DORDRECHT - PLATTEGROND - STATIONS OMGEVINGS you see the Markettenweg payed parking at the top of the Welzigtpark, close to the entrance of the station. Map Hyperlink: http://www.ns.nl/servlet/MapServer?station=ddr& In short: 2 minutes and YES! PJ

Duh! I already looked there (first, actually!) but didn't see a route.
I'll look again. Thanks PJ.

Well guessed! Next Saturday is the start of Carnaval and the Brielle Klokkenluiders Gilde (bellringers guild) will be hosted by the Breda Klokkenluiders Gilde to ring the bells of the big church in Breda.
From the church tower we will see the opening of carnaval (mayor hands over city keys to prince carnaval), then we ring the bells at 15.11 hrs. Incidentally, it's also my birthday :-)

Great, I saw they are called Wisselluiders at Dordrecht. Enjoy.

Wisselluiden (change ringing) is something else than bell ringing.
Change ringing is ringing bells according to a pattern (like the well known sound of St. Paul's in London). These patterns can be very complicated! However, for that you need bells that are hung according to certain specifications. The bells has to be able to turn around its ax. Most bells in The Netherlands can only go to and fro. You can't change-ring with them.

Well, the last time I rang the church bells was over 30 years ago.
I'm out of bell ringing shape; thanks for the info. PJ

Thanks. Don't need it though. I'm a very regular visitor to Dordrecht since 30 years. It was just the train thing.
