My wife and I are t-shirt junkies. Were would be the best place to buy an PR tee without paying rip off tourist prices?

Well, T-shirts are tourist bait by definition, eh? "Rip off" and "tourist" prices are subjective. Depending on manufacturer quality and imprint/message on the shirt, is 3 for $10 a rip-off? 5 for $20 a rip-off? Buy one, get one free a rip-off? Half off-price for factory seconds; is that a rip-off? $20 for your favorite message on 1 shirt a deal or a rip-off? These are common offers regardless of Caribbean destination. You need to xplain what you mean by "rip off."

Suggest trolling all the cruise-ship shore shops at a leisurely pace, take notes, compare prices, then go to the store(s) offering the most competitive price(s) for the T's you are most interested in. Otherwise, explore shops far from the madding crowd and negotiate .

Hello, it would be in Santurce marketplace, best day its on fri evening, do not bother going to el Mall de las Americas (biggest mall in all PR) if you're short on time bc traffic is horrendous, =) (talking from experience oct 07)
If you are renting a car you can go to Belz factory outlet, its east route 3 maybe 1/2 hr from the airport. The best thing about PR is a small island with everything nearby. Have a great trip!

Old San Juan is a small place, 7 streets, norhth to south, and 7 streets east to west, and it is a favorite destination for cruise ships, eleven per week, and when the ships come in, the tourist invade the charming walled city, making it a heaven for the souvenier stores, who offer a variety of different imprints on T-Sirts, from 3 for US$10, and up, since the competition is fierce among the different stores! Thera are plenty to choose from, if I was you, I would look arround, and not buy the first offer, the after a few visits, decide which store has the best imprints for you! Calle Fortaleza, from calle Cristo, down hill has many shops for variety. There are city maps readily available in many shops and in the tourist office in city hall in the center of the old city.
