Hello all

I was planning to travel to Egypt in late March but have just realized that it is the easter period and that one would be charged a premuim on all rates. Just wanted to enquire what might be the kind of difference that one would expect in hotel and tour deals between traveling in March or April or May?

I think that, technically, March is still @high season' and April isn't, hotelwise.

High season in Egypt is during the summer months. It is to freaking hot out there during the summer. Off season starts the end of March and reaches to the end of September.

Not that Western touragents have that in mind.... They will charge high season prices during the high season in Europe and US. While they will pay low season prices in Egypt.... BIG PROFITS!!! Another reason to arrange your own deal with a local agent!

It does depend on whether you're talking about hotels or flights, of course. Entirely different rules.

During April and May it is Kamseen season in Egypt... 50 days of hot and dry sandy winds so Egypt isn't an overly popular place duing this period. I can tell you that prices don't vary too much either, not in comparison to how the UK would rip you off !!! I never notice a hike in prices regardless of th season.

After reading my former reply I wonder no one has noticed that I got high and off season totally mixed up. Off season is during the summer months and hotel prices and prices for cruises will go down.

The Khameseen can be a nuisance, but it is not the case that the sandy winds will blow for 50 days! During this period of 50 days there can be 1 or 2 days of sandy winds and that can happen several times during this 50 days.
We had it one day late March 6 years ago in Aswan. When we came up we noticed the weather was foggy. Coming from Holland we expected it to be moist outside, but the opposite was the case: it was very dry and we had small sand particals between our teeth all the time we were outside. Our hair felt like straw and we had to wash it at least three times to get writh of the sand. Don't leave your window open during this sandy wind: you will regret it!

Yes it is easter period but not all companies increase rates of tours on this period,some companies have fixed deals all the year,for example travelegyptnow company (private tours for example) i recommend you to use it because it gives best rates and good service also depending on what many foreign friends told me.
Same about hotels! if you book tour it will be included hotels of course,hotels in downtown also like 3* don't change rates around the year or are you looking only for luxurious hotels?
