| São Paulo | guarulhos int'l airport Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 07:35 PM UTC
We will be arriving at night at Guarulhos Airport from Salvador Bahia. We will rent a car and then drive to a hotel for the night. Does anyone know a hotel that is within short and easy driving distance from the airport?
Is it difficult to get to the Ibis Guarulhos? Is that one pretty close? Any other suggestions? @#e are leaving within a week, so a quick reply would be appreciated. Phyllis |

Oi Phyllis,
The Ibis is an easy drive from Guarulhos...about 15 minutes along a major street. I suggest that you stop at the tourist information booth at the airport and pick up a map of the area to help you find it. You might want to call first to be sure there is a room available, as they usually fill up rather fast. There are several other hotels in Guarulhos if the Ibis is full. You might want to check it out on the net first. Boa viagem! JAC

Hi Phyllis,
Since apparently you'll just be staying overnight (flying in at night, out the next morning) I do not think you need to rent a car, since you are staying in downtown Guarulhos. It is very close to the Int'l Airport (15'); the cabfare (from + to) will probably cost less than the rate (unless you got a very good deal). And, more importantly, you won't have to worry about directions and stuff. Another hassle-free alternative would be take advantage of the shuttles (pre-scheduled) most hotels offer, including Ibis Guarulhos: every 30' from 5:30 am to 11:30pm. Hope this helps. Cheers, Cello

Ibis Guarulhos has a free shuttle service from airport to hotel, unless you arrive after 11 pm I guess; if it's the case get an airport taxi, it's not expensive; I've done that some weeks ago and made the reservation by their website; to get from Ibis to Guarulhos they have a very cheap shuttle service every half hour, I think it's much better than get lost at night in Guarulhos; it's not an easy place to get around
