Rio de Janeiro but hiking boots in Rio

Hi
Would you pick up a good pair of hiking boots over in brazil/south America. Was hoping to pick them up in Rio as this is where I land. Thought they might be cheaper. Or would be just better buying them at home in Ireland. Tks.

Prices are not all that cheap in Brazil, especially Rio. Also, not sure what type of trip you're planning, but it's likely to be very hot in Brazil--too hot for sneakers in most cases, let alone hiking boots.

Oi,

Well, I agree with Bahiana about the prices of shoes in Brasil, however, I would recommend that you wear a good pair of walking boots for your travels. A few years back I picked up a pair of Dr. Martens, and wear them on every trip I take.....but, I should point out that I spend several hours each day, for weeks at a time, walking around! You will soon find out that NOTHING beats a good pair of shoes/boots when you are traveling! My Doc Martens are as study today as they were 5 years ago, and are still as comfortable. Of course, there are many good brands on the market. I've noticed from my own experience that paying a little more now will repay you long into the future. Boa viagem!

shoes in Brasil are cheaper in general than Europe, but I would bring a worn and confortable pair of shoes, sneakers, sandals, whatever you're used to walk and eventually would buy some hiking boots here; in general good hiking boots are sold in special hiking stores and are very expensive
