Hi all, Wer'e goining to Kovalam in March and would like to go on a houseboat overnight. However I have sleep apnea and need to use a CPAPs machine plugged into an electric socket...question is do the houseboats have electric sockets? Any Info greatfully received. thanks

No problem with sockets, they virtually all have A/C anyway and keep it running all night if you ask them. I also use a CPAP and went on a houseboat last August. If you get the chance to visit some of the little village communities along the minor backwaters in a small boat or local canoe that's a lot of fun; take a load of cheap biros to throw to the kids who run along the bank crying "one pen", "one pen"! Makes their day, and yours.

When you book your houseboat tell them you need electric as some of the smaller single room ones are punted and have no engine let alone an electric socket,the last time we actually requested one without power for the peace and tranquility of it, one guy at the front with a punt pole, one guy at the rear with a punt pole, one guy as a dedicated chef, no noise except nature... bliss.

Normally most of the houseboats are motorised and using yamaha genrators for electrifying the boat.Rooms are well appointed as a hotel room. Please check weather you are using Non Air conditioned or Airconditioned houseboat. Please double check kovalam is a beach destination. Please choose either Alleppy or Kumarakom for backwater cruise.
