Hi there,
You can hop on the shuttle bus that leaves right from the airport and head into the city. You could explore the area around the Viaduct Basin, which has some good bars and cafes. There is the Maritime Museum if that sort of thing interests you, and you would have time for a harbour cruise. From the waterfront it's a short walk to the Sky Tower with it's casinos and observation deck and the option to do a tower climb or a controlled wire descent. If you're up for the adrenaline thing you can also bungy from the harbour bridge.

Not to forget Auckland Museum and Parnell which is just a super short bus ride, or you can even walk from the city centre. And Kelly Tarlton's, Victoria Market...

Take the Airbus shuttle into Auckland CBD, jump on the Devonport ferry and make the 10 minute crossing to Devenport on the Northshore. Lots of quaint shops and historical buildings. The ferry is the cheapest way to see the sights of the harbour. Return to Auckland, take a coffee in the Viaduct, ride to the top of the Sky Tower, browse the shops for a souvenier and take the bus back to the airport.
Have a great time. http://www.aucklandlifestyle.com/auckland_internat http://www.aucklandlifestyle.com/devonport.html
