Cairo Budget and mid-level hotels in Egypt
Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 07:11 AM UTC
Hello there

I am planning a trip to Egypt in March-April and have been looking out for budget hotels in Cairo on
the VT site. I've come across many posts recommending the Garden City House Hotel.

Do you have any advise on which rooms should I request for at the hotel (which side/floor)- I am looking for something with low noise levels, clean bathrooms and well ventilated.

In case I don't manage to get reservations at this hotel, do you have recommendations for similar properties in Cairo?

All your help is much appreciated.

Warm regards

Hi - I have been looking for similar accomodations and have come across a few good budget hotels on www.hostelworld.com. Select budget hotels and guesthouses, not hostels to see what's available. Some have gotten very high ratings from other travelers. Good luck!

I stayed at this hotel at one of the rooms. I think that they are all similar. The hotel is located in one floar in a 4 story building. You can ask the front desk to show you few rooms before you pick one.

The other hotel I stayed at was Far away near Ramsis train station.

I myself have been planning for our Egypt/Jordan trip in May and I came across Hotel Osiris in Central Cairo so many times on Tripadvisor forum. Check http://www.osiris.fr.fm/ to get a feel of it. I just booked three nights with them and a double room with a private bath is only 30 euros (~45 dollars) a night, which is not bad at all. I just like that it's closed to the train station and Egyptian Museum.

Regards,

Heidi

Read my hotel tip about Garden city house hotel. I put the pictures of all the rooms. Ask for the room with private bathroom, upper floor, and having Nile river view. The hotel is good enough for the budget hotel. ANyway, you will be busy roaming around the city and will be seeing your room only after dinner and before the breaksfast time. Make the reservation at www.gardencityhouse.com. It will be within the short walking distance to the museum, Tahrer Square (for groceries and restaurants), and Ramses train station.Perfectly located in the city, not a noisy one if you close the door and window.

I stayed Happyton hotel :(TEL 02 2592 8600) recently and very easy walkable distance from the center. The hotel is decent and has professional staffs despite the costs. For triple room it was 114 LE/Nihgt,very basic but shower was good and a lot of repeaters coming. hope this helps.
