Good Morning...I have a friend doing some business around India at present and he told me that there is something that Hyderabad is known for, and that it comes from the sea. I'm trying to discover what it is, and thought maybe the VT forums could help! Could you help me solve this bit of trivia? I would be very grateful. Thank you! Michelle

Pearls! That's what Hyderabad is famous for. There is a huge pearl market in the old city area of Hyderabad near Char Minar. But no trip to Hyderabad is complete without tasting another of it's specialties, the Hyderabadi Biryani. It is delicious!!

I belong to Hyderabad, You are warm welcome to this wonderful city which is now famous worldwide due to its booming IT companies investment and of course not last But the first "It is a real pearl/Bangles city" with good consumable dishes.

I've been told many times when visiting Hyd that another name for the city is "pearl city". I've purchased pearls there a couple times. You should go and find this out for yourself, but since you look American (i.e., have money) you should have an Indian acquaintance do the negotiating for you. :-)
