| Bais City | Stay in Bahia de Bais Posted: Tue January 22, 2008 07:49 PM UTC
Hello there!
I got a free hotel stay for 2 in Bahia de Bais for 3days and 2nights. But the transpo and the activities are not included. Can somebody give me any info on how to go there from Manila either thru air or thru ro-ro? Also, I need to know what are the activities we can do there and where to eat. Please include also the estimated prices. Thanks in advance. :) Scarlet |

I think the closest airport would be Dumaguete City. From there, take bus or arrange for private car to take you to Bais which is popular for dolphin watching.

bais is about an hour drive north of dumaguete. if you're taking roro, not sure whether you'll be dropped at bacolod or san carlos, eitherways, bais is before dumaguete. if i were to choose bacolod (west) or san carlos (east), id choose bacolod passing by himamaylan -- crossing mabinay, the road is much better. there are a lot of buses passing by bais. better finalize first the mode of transportation from Manila before worrying how to get to bais, its very accessible. plane to dumaguete would be the best mode, though.

How to go to Bais from Dumaguete:
Jeepneys ply the Dumaguete-Bais route at Php15, one way. To go whale watching, better join a group since boat rent is kind of expensive when there's only two of you. Or call the Tourism Operations Unit of the city mayor’s office (Tel. 035 5415161/4028174; Fax 035 4028181, 4028183) and check if there’s a scheduled tour that you can join. Boat rent for up to 15 pax is Php2500. Boat rent for up to 30 pax is Php3000.

Hi! I can't seem to contact any place in Bais. I tried the tourist office but the number in not in service. Am I supposed to dial 035 5415161 straight? I was able to call Pura Vida though. Also, I tried calling La Planta and Bahia and same...number in not in service. Please help. I will be going to Dumaguete in June and would like to arrange for my whole trip. Thanks!

If you're calling from outside the Philippines, you have to dial 0063 35 5415161. If you're from within the Philippines, your dialing sequence is correct. However, since you're encountering problems, dial 109 (if you're a PLDT subscriber) and request for directory assistance. The operator will connect your call to the operator in Bais.

The Tourism Office number has changed... +63-35-4026629
I've talked to them today (Mar. 26) and a boat rental w/ a guide is P3000 without any food or water. We plan to do the trip on April 1. If anyone is interested in sharing the cost, jus send me an email.
