Toulouse Rugby in the Spring
Posted: Tue January 22, 2008 07:53 PM UTC
Just booked for a long weekend in Tulouse for the H cup - Toulouse are at home to Cardiff Blues on Sunday 6th April. Everyone I know who's been has raved about the wonderful bars, atmosphere and people. I'd like to hear about the best things to see, eat, drink and enjoy in the city.

Thanks

Weather should be nice by then.

OK, the post game ritual is plenty of pastis (often the "51" brand). Just ask for "astis cinquante-et- un". You'll get a pitcher of water with it - make sure you use it.

After several "aperos" comes a good 3 course meal with wine. Local cuisine and wine are top rate. Try cassoulet - white beans with bits of pork, sausage etc. Winter dish, but April should be OK. Many others.

Try armagnac to finish (and help the digestion). Then off on the town for a few beers.

The city is rugby obsessed.

I'm jealous - keep trying to go back on a rugby expedition and take my son, but never find a weekend when I can go and they've got a home game.

I played for a 2nd division team in the city - not recently!

Iaint - looking forward to the pastis. A very civilised way to celebrate or as a pick me up after the final whistle. Just read that Le Stadium is a sell out so us Welshmen will be slightly outnumbered. Still looking forward to a great rugby weekend.
