| Lago di Como | Is a side trip to Lugano worth the time/trouble? Posted: Tue January 22, 2008 05:46 PM UTC
My Mom said Lugano was wonderful, but not sure if other people think it's worth it, or if it's just a tourist trap (my Mom loves tourist traps!!!). Thanks for your input.

Lugano and its lake are a nice place to visit, but not above other locations in that part of Italy and Switzerland. Lugano is a largish town. If you prefer romantic villages it is not worth going there.

If you like romantic villages there are however a few places near Lugano worth a visit. Just get a daypass for the boats and explore the shores of the lakes. Places like Gandria or Morcoto are quite nice.
