We have two little boys--one baby and a 4 year old. We are trying to choose between these 3 hotels. They are all somewhat similiarly priced for a room for us with a view/balcony. We also want to take a sidetrip to Lugano. Thanks!

I just stayed at Villa Cipressi last September. It has large grounds, great for active kids, but since it is on the lake you have to be with them. During my stay they had a wedding reception that lasted way into the wee hours, you might want to check the hotel; it was impossible to sleep that night. RVJimmy

Have a look at the 2 apartments attatched to Albergo Milano in Varenna.

The apartments are called Casa Rossa and Casa Giala at

Many families use these wonderful flats with breakfast in the hotel included in the price.

About your side-trip to Lugano, if you want to go there by car it will be easier if you stay in Tremezzo. If, instead, you plan to travel by boat and bus it will not make a big difference.

Thanks, but I already checked on those and they are booked! We're trying also to stay somewhere that we can 'stroll' the kids in to the hotel in case they are asleep after dinner. Which town did you like the best? Do you think if we stayed in Tremezzo it would be too quiet? Or Bellagio too noisy? Would it be easy to take a stroller from Villa Cipressi to the ferry?

Actually, you would have many more choices if you were to stay right in Como - lots of activities for kids there as well. You might take a look at the Como tips from VT'rs.
