Posted: Sun September 21, 2003 12:31 AM UTC
A while ago I asked some inside information about Liverpool. I've got little response.
Excepted from "Ayers Rock where".
What about the other 247 members of Vt, Liverpudlians or should I say scousers? Aren't You proud of your city, choosen to be the cultural capital of Europe in 2008?
Thanks to all, who respond, and gave me some usefull information.

Jill2002 - I'm delighted to inform you that i have no links to scousers whatsoever, a proud Scottish and Northern Irish heritage (You may be thinking of someone from the Republic of Ireland or of a Roman Catholic background?).

What an ignorant person you are Davydoug.

I am new to this site so if you reiterate what information you need, I will endeavour to assist you.

Liverpool is a lovely place, although many of the places of interest will not be noticed by those who simply disembark from the train at Lime Street and go shopping.

If you are an outdoor person, you must take the West Kirby train from Lime Street, Central, Moorgate or James Street and travel to the end of the line (about 25 mins) and walk out to Hilbre Island. This is especially lovely in the summer. You must however, get information on the tidees or you will be stranded. You normally need to leave West Kirby beach around 9am and you will be cut off by the tide whilst on the island. You will see seals and even dolphins.

The Albert Dock, of course, is a must especially if you are interested in the Beatles. There is much regeneration going on in Liverpool in anticipation of the 2008 Year of Culture so keep checking.

Hope this helps a bit as most people would not think to go out to Hilbre Island.

HerIcome - I have no argument with you, so I would appreciate you not making unwanted comments regarding me being an "ignorant person". You know nothing about me and my personal experiences in Liverpool. I was making a light-hearted comment, obviouslt not all scousers are useless gets (probably). However a great deal of Liverpudlians are extremely ignorant (not to mention unjustifiably arrogant). As for someone suggesting that because I'm from Northern Ireland, I'm probably related to scousers?? That just verifies my point on ignorance.
A purpose of this site is to pass on previous travel and cultural experience, which is all I'm doing.
Maybe you should learn to respect other peoples opinions before judging them?

I am afraid that when you make such derogatory generalisations, you create an argument with everyone you offend. Of course I respect that you may not have had a great time when you were in Liverpool, thats fine, but if you make any more "light-hearted" comments that are likely to offend great swathes of people, perhaps it would be wise to state that you are only joking. Better still, refrain completely. As you said, this site is for travel comments.
