We are travelling to Playa Hermosa CR Feb 20. from Alberta Canada
Looking for corresponce on hotel and area. As well hoping to find a persoanl local guide to tour us.
Review on the hotel , as well as if there really is a water shotage???
Anyone else travelling from Alberta Feb...tp Liberia airport.

There are at least two playa hermosa's....are you staying at the one close to Liberia airport?
If so I would not recommend hotel playa hermosa if you do not book a deluxe room. It is the hotel on the beach but the standard rooms are very old and need renovations. For the first time ever we actually checked-out at the same night of arrival after having switched rooms three times. Th ereceptionist was very helpful and acknowledged that these rooms will be renovated this year. That obviously didn't help us ;-) The renovated deluxe ones looked great though!)

We moved to hotel del sueno (next door) which is new and only a few $ more then playa hermosa. I do recomend them (very clean, friendly and good food).
No idea on a local guide as we rented a car (unfortunately we used POAS....) and drove to the beaches ourselves. The national park Rincon de la vieja is not that far and very worthwhile (we stayed at a B&B in the area for a few days, let us knwo if that woudl be of your interest).
As a beach I'd say you have to go to playa conchal!!! wonderful.
Don't rent a car to go to Nicaragua as you cannot leave CR with a rental.

We just got back from Costa Rica. We had a great time but mainly due to Avispa's Adventures. We used them for all of our tours and transportation services. They do small group and private tours. We took a tour with one other couple as well as a tour with just us. You have to contact Amy at info@avispasadventures.com She and her staff are one of a kind. They go way beyond what you would expect from a tour company. They take you to places off the beaten path with all the comforts (Wet naps, bug spray and even WINE!) you would want in a tour and more!
