| Seattle | Ideal Time of Year? Posted: Sun January 20, 2008 08:29 PM UTC
I'm planning several vacations this year - with Seattle on my list. What is the ideal time to travel to Seattle?

If you're looking for warm, dry weather -- yes, July thru Sept are the best months. (June can still be cloudy and shower-y).
OTOH, some folks live in a warm dry climate and want a change. If that's you, I'd advise late September. The air will be crisp, rain won't yet be too frequent, and you'll get a good glimpse of fall colors. Or come in mid-June, when you'll typically experience a mix of warm sunny days, drizzly afternoons, and chilly nights for perfect sleeping. Depends on what you're after, I spoze.

I agree. Summer months in Seattle are amazing. There are usually comfortably hot days and plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. Try coming during the annual Seafair. During this you can see such events as the hydroplane races and Blue Angel airshow. This is especially fun if you can get out on a boat on Lake Washington. Check out this website for more info. http://www.seafair.com/
The winter months tend to be very rainy in Seattle. That is not that we get a lot of heavy rain all the time, but it does rain very often. Or if you are into music and art, Labor day weekend is a great time to come to the Bumbershoot Festival held in Seattle Center. You can check out this website to find out more. http://www.bumbershoot.org/ Hope that helps. I am a Seattle native so if you have any other questions let me know! Sharlene
